Dunsmuir Movie Theater Update! (And please, Like our page on Facebook!) We are having more movies this weekend, and hope to make this a regular thing if enough people keep coming. Admission is a suggested $5 admission for evening feature films, and $2 for the matinees, but we wont turn people away if they cant afford the admission price. Please come! Okay, this coming weekend were going a bit dark side with a Film Noir weekend. Friday at 7 PM we have a double feature of two classic films. The first is DOA, from 1950, starring Edmond OBrien, with a runtime of 83 minutes. Considered one of the best film noir, the movie centers on a mans frantic attempt to find out who has poisoned him, and why, before he dies. More info here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.O.A._(1950_film) The second film of the double feature is Detour, from 1945, starring Tom Neal and Ann Savage. Runtime is about 1 hour. The story is like something Alfred Hitchcock would spin, a series of unfortunate events, and things just get worse for our main character. How will he work through it all? Come see! Another award-winning classic of the noir genre. Saturday at 7 PM well be showing a classic Humphrey Bogart movie called Beat the Devil. John Houston made this movie 10 years after he made the Maltese Falcon, and he pulled together many of the original actors from his earlier films, including Peter Lorre and Robert Morley, to make this parody of the Maltese Falcon. Set in Italy, and also starring Gina Lollobrigida, this movie made Eberts top 100 best movies of all-time. Well be having two matinees this weekend! Saturday at 2PM we have some cartoons for the kids. Were showing some Korean anime movies that have been dubbed into English. The first is Space Transformer, from 1983, which is like the Fantastic Voyage combined with giant robots. The second is Raiders of Galaxy, which pulls ideas from Tron, some Japanese anime, and other US cartoons and films of the 80s. Sunday at 2 PM, were showing the classic Shirley Temple movie, Little Princess, loosely based on the famous Francis Hodgson Burnett novel. Well see *you* at the movies!
