Durham comes to Durham??? ED RAW are delighted and privileged to have been asked to host 3 students who hail from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina USA as part of the Experience Durham project. We have 3 fantastic young ladies Stephanie, Sasha and Mandy who will be with us for the next month and who will be working on projects with ED RAW to help us promote our fantastic service. The girls will be working with ED RAW team on 2 challenges.. Firstly headed by Claire Stenson and Rob Ainscough they will be working on our community inclusion picnic arranging raffle prizes, designing invites and Jazzing up the ED RAW table for the day!! Secondly headed by Andrea Kelly they will be doing an Easington Memory book "Then and Now" looking at Easington in its hey day through the depression to where we are today with ED RAW at the helm of bringing the community back together and rising like a phoenix from the flames... Our team working with the students have a vast knowledge of mining history, the war and Easington as a child so come with a wealth of information and knowledge to make their placement interesting and fun!!! A big thanks must to go Easington Welfare Manager who is an absolute diamond and has also taken the students under his wing and also councillor David Boyes who is heavily involved in the Welfare Hall and the community history for providing assistance with these projects....A big thanks also to Derek Stenson for mining and family history and providing the much needed laughter for the girls... we hope they will take a lot back home with them.... including thorntons caramel shortcakes .... which they are very fond of.... Once again cant say how chuffed we were to be asked to host the girls... ED RAW onward and upward and GLOBAL!!!! Carole Williams
