During WW1 and WW2 even Korea and Vietnam there was a distinct difference between than and how we wage war now. Enemy body counts, destruction and I mean complete destruction of infrastructure and all means of production or industry was destroyed and counted as a Win or at least what was necessary to kill the enemy and its ability to cause harm or Govern territory and Countries. Today is different, we hold ourselves and the Israelis to the principle of minimal intrusion, minimal destruction and preservation of Institutions, infrastructure and cities as a whole. Precision bombings, measured responses and minimal civilian casualties are the new order for the United States and that is why we spend decades fighting instead of years like in the past. I for one applaud the Israeli Govt and people for fighting the true fight of survival as a people. If the Mexican Govt starting lobbing mortars into Arizona and Texas we would better understand the IDF tactics and operational principles. God didnt cut any slack when he choose for his people to fight yet we continually tax our own abilities to stand up for our new principles of warfare. Are our new principles of engagment effective?... hopefully we will never really have to find out. In the meantime watch the people of Israel fight for survival like the Lions they are....
