During World War II, women entered the workforce in unprecedented numbers, supported the fight against fascism through work at armament factories, and earned the nickname “Rosie the Riveter” through service to our nation. Our District has our own Roise the Riveters. Kay Morrison and Marian Wynn from Fairfield both worked as welders during the war at a factory in Richmond. Today, I expressed my deep appreciation to them in person. They sacrificed enormously and helped propel our nation a major step toward justice. I will continue to fight for a basic principle that they made amply clear: Women deserve equal pay for equal work.
