During a conversation re the below picture & post in the Cyfarthfa Memories group, the name Rosalind Hall nee Pullman cropped up. Ive decided to copy it here as an example of the wonderful research going on behind the scenes & its sometimes quite unexpected rewards. Subsequent research revealed the following. Rosalind Hall is the current director of the BYU Mens Chorus and BYU Concert Choir. Hall is a native of Wales. She was educated at the University of London, the University of Edinburgh and Londons Royal Academy of Music. She received a bachelors of music degree from the Royal Academy in 1977. Hall came to the US in 1989 to study at Brigham Young University (BYU). While she was a grad student she also directed the BYU Womens Chorus. Hall received her Masters of music degree in 1993 from BYU. From 1992-1999 she was chair of the music department at Waterford School. She has been the director of the BYU Mens Chorus and Concert Choir since Mack Wilberg became an assistant director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the fall of 1999. In addition to conducting these two choirs at BYU, Hall teaches undergraduate courses in choral conducting and graduate courses in choral literature at the BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications. From 2001-2011 Hall never once missed a day of work for being sick (though, she did miss a few days in January 2012 due to food poisoning). She attributes her miraculous record of health to her own vivacity, positive attitude, choral students, and her consistent use of Listerine for its antiseptic, preventative capability. In 2012, Hall was ranked as one of the 300 best professors in the nation by the Princeton Review. In 2013, Hall was #4 on the list of Highest Rated Professors on RateMyProfessor Mrs Jane Type replied And not a mention of her in the Cyfarthfa centenary book. Words fail me. She was certainly vivacious in school and a one off I am so proud that she was a Cyfarthfa girl. Sarah Griffiths replied Yes, I too remember her well Mrs T. She was very musical even in our school years. I recall her and Carole Strachan singing as a duo in Eisteddfodau - their voices complimented each other and they always gave me goosebumps. Once again, even more happy memories of wonderful school years!! Today I received a lovely email from Rosalind Pullman. She asked me to pass on the following ...I wish I could help you more in this great project. I have wonderful memories of Cyfarthfa and actually have a picture of the castle sitting on my office desk as a reminder of the marvelous teachers I had there, who had such a profound influence on my life. Please give my very best wishes to those who might remember me and let them know that Cyfarthfa is still, after all these years, very close to my heart...
