During an interview today of a prospective employee, after asking our standard questions and getting to know this person just a smidge more then when they walked through the door, I always finish up with one last question or statement: Do you have any questions for me? This young person said yes, may I ask what you love best about working here? Without even a flinch or a thought I came back with my answer: Its the staff! Each member of our staff is the reason I come to work every day. They make my job easy and yes while at times I have to make tough decisions I am always there to listen and not judge, and I will always try to make a difficult situation a learning experience for all The young person smiled and said Thank you, while I hope you consider me for employment, you gave me hope that my choice of a career in EMS was all for the right reasons While my career in EMS slowly is coming to an end point, I hope I have been able to open doors for others.
