During our days at seminary Blake and I had the joy of being students of Dr. Black, and also had the privilege of interacting with his wife Becky. Mrs. Becky passed away after a long fought cancer battle just a couple of days ago. Dr. Black and his wifes faith in midst of their suffering has been and is such evidence of Gods grace at work in His life, and such an encouragement to me. The disciple should not be surprised if, as he travels the road with Christ, there is abject, total loss. Far from being bad for us, the death of a spouse may be the means of spiritual growth and of experiencing a new beginning. The Giver and Taker-Away of life can be trusted. And even when sorrow clouds our vision, we can find peace as we look up to the Father from whom every good gifting and every complete gift comes.
