During their lifetimes the philosophers Voltaire & Socrates suffered one of the saddest fates - to be good and yet judged evil. How we revere them now. From being so misunderstood to becoming so loved, and so often quoted, puts great shame on our ancestors. For that very reason I do not romanticize the past. Our parents were not always right. You can replace Were with Are not always right if it helps. In the hatred directed towards two innocent philosophers we recognize an echo of the hurt we ourselves encounter at the hands of those who are unable or unwilling to do us justice. Sadly, life is beset with disparities between others perceptions of us and our own reality. Someone I love beyond words tried to clear up a family misunderstanding only to be accused of stupidity. The ugly word Pathetic was used. Her white flag has been met by a cold wall and a barrage of contradictory words. For now the court room door has been shut, but as we all know Doors are built to be opened...add la parola Hope somewhere. I admit to being part of the problem but that I am not the problem. Add Complex to your thoughts. During this family mess I have been uncommonly silent. I retreat to the comfort of philosophy. Pretentious want to use that word? The opposition always find it hard to attack the taciturn and laconic. Go ahead! I could do with the exercise. All my other beating heart needs to hear are three words: Lets move on and feel the warmth of a hug. Hands up! I now know the true meaning of Mother Love ......I only wish I did during my own Mamas life time. She was not always right, who is, but always tried to do the right thing.
