Dutch Hop” is the music and dance of the so-called “Germans From Russia” (ethnic Germans whose ancestors settled in Russia and the Ukraine), now living in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska, a genre frequently featuring the unlikely combination of piano accordion, hammered dulcimer, trombone, and an electric piano (which serves as the bass instrument), accompanying a dance which is related to the polka, but with distinctive elements that set it apart from the more common style of polka; A 10-minute documentary to finish off todays salute to Accordion Awareness Month.
