When a tree produces fruit, it is evidence that a natural phenomenon is at work, and that the tree is yielding fruit after his kind (Genesis 1:11). Its similar in the supernatural realm. If you are a born-again believer, the fruit of the Spirit is evidence of spiritual growth and maturity, and that a supernatural phenomenon is at work in you-the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! You cannot produce these qualities on your own-they can only be produced after you have received Gods life and have been endued with power from on high! The fruit of the Spirit is Gods character. We receive the fruits of the Spirit when we accept Christ as the Lord of our lives. These are attributes of God that we are called to emulate, just as 3 John 1:11 says: Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
