Dwight Eisenhower once said, “A people that value its privileges - TopicsExpress

Dwight Eisenhower once said, “A people that value its privileges above its principals soon lose them both.” It takes courage to be a Christian, to be clear about our faith and not to compromise the truth. It takes more courage to be compassionate in understanding differences and have a willingness to lift them up to the Lord of the Harvest for healing and reconciliation. Today especially, we remember those whose lives were sacrificed by terrorist acts. They have become heroes because they unwittingly gave their lives for their beliefs in American Liberty especially Religious Freedom, at the hands of men who have made an idolatry of violence. Our Church history is filled with martyrs. It is a part of who we are and why we embrace the cross as the center of our cultural principals and our religious worship. Christians are called to see suffering as a means of grace for the world. It’s not easy by any stretch. However, Jesus reminds us “happy are you when they hate you…dance for joy, because great will your treasure in heaven be.”
