Dynamic Emergency Medical Services: BABY FOUND IN PLASTIC BAG IN SIGNAL STREET, QUIGNEY, EAST LONDON – 03/07/2014 At 07:05 this morning, Dynamic EMS received a call from Hartwig & Henderson requesting our assistance in Signal Street in the Quigney, East London, after their staff members came across a new born baby girl (believed to be full term) which was placed in a plastic bag and left in a gutter on the side of the road. We dispatched our paramedics to the scene immediately after receiving the call. While our paramedics were on route a Hartwig & Henderson staff member removed the girl from the plastic bag and wrapped her in their jacket to warm her up until our team arrived. When our paramedics arrived on scene they found that the baby girl was presenting with agonal respirations and a short moment later she lost her pulse. Our paramedics immediately started CPR and continued for 45 minutes before they were able to get her pulse back. The baby girl was then transported to Life St Dominic’s Hospital Emergency Unit by our team where she was stabilized further before being transported to the Frere Hospital Neonatal ICU department in a stable condition for further management and treatment. Well done to our team for their brilliant work done so early in the morning as well as to the Hartwig & Henderson team for their assistance on scene. Public Servant News Network Eastern Cape *PS*
