Dysfunctional self-consciousness is characteristic of the second - TopicsExpress

Dysfunctional self-consciousness is characteristic of the second stage of soul awakening. Mental confusion along with irrational thinking and conflicted emotional state is common. Egocentric preoccupation with the illusional sense of personality-self prevails. One may be superstitious, fascinated with magic, endeavor to acquire supernatural powers, believe in angels, or be attracted to mediumship and ”channeling” in misguided endeavors to communicate with beings in other spheres who are presumed to have exceptional knowledge. Powers of intelectual discrimination are weak. Addictions, sensual desires, compulsive cravings, obsessions, hallucinations, dependent emotional relationships, self-defeating behaviours, neurotic needs, complaints, fault finding, and fantasies about everyday matters and higher realities are common. Emotions and subconscious conditioning tend to determine thinking and behavior. When meditating, one may be more interested in perceiving mental phenomena of having a religious experience than in spiritual growth. The soul’s life forces are only partially aroused. - Roy Eugen Davis..
