E- 6 SSgt David Grimes – US Marines – 218 Highpoint Avenue - Gulf War Dave enlisted into the USMC in 1990. He was stationed at Parris Island for boot camp then onto duty with 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion. He is a combat veteran of the Gulf war (1991) and in Somalia (1992) as mechanized infantry. He transferred to Kings Bay, Georgia (1995) for duty with Marine Corps Security Forces. He reported for duty as a Drill Instructor for the 2nd Battalion, Golf Company in 1999. After that, Dave left active duty in 2003. In 2004, he joined the Georgia Army National Guard and was activated for the war in Iraq in 2004. He was stationed at Camp Stryker in Baghdad as light infantry and performed search and security within what was known as the triangle of death. He was reassigned to transport security in Nasiriyah for KBR fuel truck convoys to be delivered to all FOB’s in Iraq. He was redeployed back home in 2006 and retired in 2010 as an E-6 SSgt. In 2011, Dave was hired as Law Enforcement and Tactical Combat subject matter expert for a private contractor to train Afghanistan Army, Special Forces, SWAT, Border Patrol and Police. He established and taught candidates for Officer Candidates School in Kandahar province and was reassigned to Kabul in late 2012 to provide training for Special Forces and SWAT units. Dave returned home after 2.5 years as an Instructor Mentor Trainer in 2013.
