Consequent of his birthday celebration that was held in Port Harcourt yesterday, where some social media activists and bloggers on APC’s payroll were invited, Gov Rotimi is livid about the outcome of the whole event, which has become an embarrassment to him and his party, APC. Information filtering in from Port Hacort says; Amaechi was said to have thoroughly tongue lashed the middle man of the invitation, one “Femi Adeoya” for bringing immature and “never see money before people” (quoting Gov Rotimi Amachi) who ran to town to spread news of the largesse they got from Amaechi. Amaechi is said to be embarrassed by the whole incident as it has become a big scandal on social media, so much that he has been bombarded with phone calls from other APC stalwarts, including Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Gov Babatunde Fashola of Lagos, who are quarrying the handling of the issue and why he chose to deal with such incompetent people. From yesterday’s event, it was gathered that, the highlight of the event was a dinner hosted by Gov. Amaechi and where cheques of N5 million each was presented to the as initial payment for the task ahead. The trip for each of the attendees was also an all-expense paid trip and they were lodged in five star hotels – Presidential Hotels, Port Harcourt. Meanwhile tongues have been waging in government quarters and civil service in Rivers state, as civil servants and public office holders in the state have come hard against the move, referring to it as a waste of tax payers money.
