EARLY MORNING THOUGHT March 6, 2014 5:15 AM PT was painful yesterday, forcing a new knee to flex after not being able to. I guess its now or never. The airport was painful yesterday, but in a diferent way: deeper, longer lasting. Saying goodbye to daughter and granddaughter after 12 days of closeness makes the knee feel incidental. Cleared security and gone... I have heard said that these things dont affect missionaries like they do normal people. Normal people should not be expected to deal with the idea of kids and grandkids living in a different country. What horrible stereotyping is set in motion by the word, missionary! I am so happy that this word is not in the Bible. It conjures up images of so many things that I am not. None of us is anyone special; none less or more susceptible to the pain of separation or loss. Yet, none need despair, none should be afraid to let go. In Christ, we share a common destiny. Distance is relative; separation temporary. One day, around His throne, together forever, with absolutely no danger on the horizon. That should make us more obedient now than sentimental. “...Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” (Re 5:13b)
