EBENEZER ASSIFUAH JOINS FC SION ON FOUR-YEAR DEAL Ghana U20 striker Ebenezer Assifuah has completed a four-year move to Swiss club FC Sion, GHANAsoccernet can exclusively reveal. The 20-year-old was one of the headline performers at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey where he emerged overall top scorer. The Liberty Professionals striker has decided his football will thrive most in Switzerland and has signed a four-year deal for the Red and Whites on Friday. It effectivley ends the pursuit of other European clubs who expressed interest in signing the former Sekondi XI Wise player after his sterling display at the World Cup which ended last month with Ghana winning bronze. Assifuah put pen to paper after passing a mandatory club medical conducted earlier on Friday. He will be duly presented to the club fans and the media as Sion’s latest signing. The Ghanaian youngster is expected to meet his new teammates on Saturday after which he will be handed an official team jersey. Sion hope to jump-start their season with the signing of Assifuah following a difficult opening in the Super League. Michel Decastel’s side are winless after three round of matches and are now just one place above the bottom-placed club. Assifuah joins with a high reputation as a proven goalscorer at junior level. He scored six goals out of seven games to emerge the top scorer at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup.
