EBOLA ALERT: GHANIAN ACTOR THREATENS COURT ACTION Yesterday I - TopicsExpress

EBOLA ALERT: GHANIAN ACTOR THREATENS COURT ACTION Yesterday I went to renew my health insurance at the National Health Insurance in Kumasi, Ghana. I noticed that some people were trying to avoid other people. More so, there were a lot of anti-germ disinfectant (sanitizer) cream going round. This is unusual. I seemed to be the only person in Ghana who was unaware of the Ebola alert, one of the officials of NHIS said to me. Apparently there had been an Ebola alert as news went viral on Tuesday that a Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker, had contracted the deadly Ebola virus while in Liberia to shoot a movie titled “Bendu Sudan.” The story also added that Ghana’s Foreign Ministry had barred the actor from returning to Ghana. But the actor had described the story as rubbish saying that he is even in the country. He is threatening to take legal actions against publishers and bloggers as well as those who fueled the false story, saying that no one had contacted him on the state of his health, his trip to Liberia or his movie. Van Vicker said he had to abandon an initial plan to shoot part of his movie in Liberia, in August, after the Ebola menace was exacerbated. According to Van Vicker, the rumour has psychologically affected his wife and children. Vicker is now trying hard to ‘disinfect’ his family, especially his children of the rumour. He feared his children would be avoided by their peers and teachers at school. On the home front, after about 6 hours of waiting, I finally got my health insurance renewed.
