As a leader in multi-language health, safety, civic engagement and emergency readiness communication programs and services, ECHO bridges the gap for immigrants, refugees, and New Americans in Minnesota. Through close collaboration with health, safety, civic, bilingual community leaders, partners, and talented spokespersons, ECHO conveys information through a variety of multimedia channels, community outreach activities, and educational tools including TV and radio broadcasts, digital short videos, public service announcements, an informational phone line, targeted DVD distribution, training sessions, webinars, English Language Learning curriculum, and more. ECHO also distributes information in many languages via its website and social media (echominnesota.org) and through partnerships statewide. ECHO’s communication tools also function as an emergency infrastructure available to public health and safety agencies during a crisis. In the event of an emergency, such as a flood or a disease outbreak, ECHO has a proven system in place to deliver critical messages in the most urgently needed languages rapidly and effectively through broadcast, print, Internet, and partnership relays. ECHO’s goal is to make sure English Language Learners receive quality health, civic, and emergency information so they can be successful in the community and the workforce. Additionally, ECHO provides programs and services supporting cultural awareness initiatives for public, private and non-profit organizations. ECHO supplies more critical information to providers and people with limited English proficiency than any other organization in the region, and it does so in ways that are culturally contextual.
