EDDIE MERRY FINAL Goodwick United 3-3 Merlins Bridge Goodwick United won 4-3 on penalties A very entertaining game of football. The Bridge took the lead when Nathan Greene finished at the far post. Goodwick scored two goals in a minute. Firstly Rhys Dalling took on a defender and hit a left footed shot passed the keeper then Johny Horgan volleyed into the net after a Darren Devonald through ball had caused problems in the Bridge defence. There were chances at both ends then just before half time the Bridge leveled through Peter Thomas from the penalty spot. The Bridge took the lead when Steve McNabney struck a righted footed shot into the far corner of the net. Goodwick changed their formation and pushed more men forward. This was rewarded when Dalling was fouled 25 yards from goal, Rob Morgan stepped up and hit a terrific shot past the Bridge keeper. There were no more goals and the game went to penalties. Peter Thomas, Simon Thomas and Steve McNabney scored for the Bridge with Goodwick keeper James Gwilt saving efforts from Nathan Greene and Scot Crawford. Goodwicks scorers were Ryan Howells, Rhys Dalling, Johny Horgan and Rob Morgan and consequently they won 4-3. Goodwick captain Gwilt was presented with the cup by Nigel Davies, of Fishguard Sports, who thanked all teams, the excellent officials and the public for supporting what was a splendid week of football.
