EDO STATE POLITICS ON FOCUS I read somewhere that a faction of Edo House of Assembly members held it sitting at the Government House in Osadebe Avenue, GRA. The fracas at the Anthony Enahoro Complex started when it was alleged that some dishonorable members were given N35m each to port to the opposition party in the state. The move was alleged sponsored by Abuja Politicians. The reason gathered was to have majority in the house and then impeach the Speaker dishonorable Uyi Igbe. It was also gather that the Deputy Speaker dishonorable Festus Ebea is the one spearheading the other Fraction. The matter escalated when The Speaker suspended the Deputy Speaker and some other dishonorable members. On retaliation, the suspended Deputy Speaker, dishonorable Festus Ebea, suspended the speaker Uyi Igbe and the Majority Leaders, dishonorable Phillip Shaibu. The opposition lawmaker held a parallel plenary along political divide when dishonorable Festus Ebea (Esan southeast), held his sitting without the mace and allied assembly followed a motion moved by dishonorable Kingsley Ehigiamusoe (Igueben) calling for the suspension of the duo and five others over allegations of bringing the legislature into disrepute by bringing thugs to the hallowed chambers to harass lawmakers. The motion was seconded by dishonorable Patrick Iluobe (Esan northeast I). Thereafter Ebea asked for a voice vote and the other eight PDP members present including dishonorable Monday Ehighalua (Esan west), Emma Okoduwa(Esan Northeast II), Razaq Momoh (Etsako West I) Jude Ise-Idehen (Ikpoba-Okha), and Friday Ogieriakhi (Orhionwon) approved the resolution as plenary was adjourned to the next day. From the next day the thugs of both side took over the Assembly Complex. To avoid casualties the Nigerian Police refused to open the gate for any of the factions. For weeks till date sitting didnt hold. Supporters of both sides have held their protests on different occasion. Some of the dishonorable members have reported attempt on their life. One reported he escaped been assassinated. These dishonorable members have turn our unemployed youths to their personal bodyguard and security thereby exposing them to death. One guy I know who to live off Oguola road escaped death when the car they were was shot at severally. Edo state that was known for their political tolerance have been turn to war zone because of 2015. Even when the state was ruined for ten years by the party that pride itself as the biggest party in Africa, there was no war. Why is the same party trying to make Edo state ungovernable? To bring the situation under control, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa stepped into the crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly. He urged the political gladiators to sheathe their swords and allow peace reign in the state. The revered traditional ruler, who spoke after a closed door meeting with leaders of the APC and the PDP in his palace, urged politicians not to plunge the state into crisis.The Benin Monarch pleaded with the political parties to resolve their political differences amicably in the interest of peace and security of the state. Other eminent Edo citizens have pleaded with both sides to give peace a chance. Religious leaders on their part have called both parties to embrace peace. Is obvious some political chieftains from Abuja is behind this fracas that enveloped Edo House of Assembly. And is clear their target is the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The mews making around heard it that in the past weeks billions of Naira have been transfer to the state to execute their selfish and unholy mission. How could anyone want to impeach the best governor since the creation of Edo state? The money they would have used to developed Nigeria, they are using it to sponsor impeachment (coups) across the nation, destabilizing states they see as threat to their political ambition. It happened in River State, now is happening is Adamawa and Edo state. No one know their next target. Those who lives in Abuja and sponsor terror in their state and other states, should remember Abuja is just a temporary home for them. The good news is that Edo people know their enemies!
