~ EID-UL-ADHA a.k.a BAKRI EID. - People of a certain sect / community will slaughter livestock like goats, sheep, lamb, camel, cow, oxen, buffalo in various parts of the world in the name of God to please HIM. Let me share what I know about Eid-ul-adha, to the best of my understanding (Im always open to corrections, if any) --- Allah, the most merciful, had asked Ibrahim to sacrifice 1 thing which is closest to his heart - his son Ismail. Allah was just testing Ibrahims faith and devotion. Ibrahim, having the most unwavering faith in Him, agreed. But Ishmael had to be consulted as to whether he was willing to give up his life in fulfillment of Allahs command. Ismael agreed most willingly. When Abraham attempted to cut Ishmaels throat, he was astonished to see that Ishmael was unharmed and instead, he found a dead ram which was slaughtered. Abraham had passed the test by his willingness to carry out Allahs command. Therefore, this ANIMAL SLAUGHTERING ritual came into existence. I fail to understand what is the SACRIFICE in slaughtering an animal. Sacrificing means giving up something dear to you. Maybe like how this ritual came into existence, this festival people should sacrifice their own children & loved ones & then cook their meat & eat ( if they wish to). I honestly believe Allah IS the MOST MERCIFUL. And HE must be pained to see blood of millions of animals crying in pain. My heart will never agree that HE would ever want it like this. P.S: ANIMALS ARE SLAUGHTERED NOT TO PLEASE GOD BUT TO PLEASE THE HUMAN TONGUE & APPETITE.
