EKITI 2014 ELECTION: THE BEST ALTERNATIVE Check the records, there has never been an undisciplined person who was a champion. Regard less of the field of endeavour, you will find that to be true! Navy captain Caleb Olubolade has served this great nation meritoriously as a thorough bred and gallant Military Officer and a democrat. He is a man of many parts. He is a Military Officer, Humanist, Philanthropist, Strategist, Ex-Military Administrator, Ex-Federal Minister and a great patriot. Olubolade is an epitome of the noble ideas of resilience, loyalty, patriotism, courage and committed services. He has through hard work, dedicated and selfless services to this nation, portrayed himself as a patriotic Nigerian, typical Ekiti man, quintessential leader, political strategist and astute administrator whose vision is to make Ekiti One United and indivisible entity. This enigma’s interventions at critical points in Ekiti and the nation’s numerous political cross-roads have been hailed as the solution. To his eternal credit, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade has spent his money, energy, time and used his contact to improve the lots of Ekiti people through various donations of both cash and materials. He was responsible for the purchase of eleven New Motorcycles for the PDP members whose bikes were burnt by the APC thugs. He also bought a new bus each for the State Party Exco, women wing of PDP, Youths of the PDP and Ekiti State Council of Obas. He expended about (N25M) Twenty-Five Million Naira on the purchase of (1800) One Thousand Eight Hundred bags of rice and other gifts he distributed during both Xmas and Salah festivals between 2011, 2012 & 2013. A friend of the down trodden, he is easily accessible, dependable and has a high network of political associates among all the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. Olubolade has risen beyond being a sectionalist by facilitating some community development projects in Ekiti. For example he helped in the re-roofing of Iloro Town Hall with corrugated iron sheets. He donated a sum of (N500) Five Hundred Thousand Naira for the completion of Iloro Students union building. He oiled the wheel of work of St. Mary’s African Church, Iloro-Ekiti with a sum of one hundred thousand naira, while the Methodist Church at Ifaki-Ekiti, where Engr. Segun Oni worships received a two trailer load of cement for the Church Building Project. He who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. No wonder, he enjoys support from various strata of the society like the public servants, politicians rural and urban dwellers, traders and artisans. He has been accepted in all parts of the state and beyond because the people know his long pedigree and success in all assignments he has held in life. Hon. Olubolade made a contribution of a sum of two million naira for Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti Palace projects, while a sum of three million naira was donated to Oore of Otun-Ekiti towards the town’s High Court Building. He also made some substantial donation for the palace development of Oloowa of Odo-Owa Ekiti. He boosted the agricultural production of Ijero Local Government Area with a donation of a new tractor. The immediate ex-minister of Police Affairs is a major player in Ekiti Politics. He enjoys cordial relations with the stalwarts party members of both the state and national level. His influence soared when Ekiti people thronged his office and home for socio-political and economic favours. He donated a sum of thirty million naira for Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi’s re-run election, while he distributed another sum of forty million naira to the Sixteen Local Government for the President Jonathan’s election in 2011. As a faithful partyman, he donated variously a sum of eight million, six million, and five million naira as take-off grants and miscellaneous for the State Exco while Ijero PDP got a sum of two million naira for same purpose. In September, 2013, he donated about twenty-five million naira for distribution among the Sixteen Local Government of Ekiti for party office rent, staff salaries, and general stabilization. During his visits to the senatorial districts in July, August and October 2013, he made a total donation of a sum of ten million six hundred thousand naira for the party development at that level. A complete gentleman who abhors animosity, he made a cash donation of a sum of three million naira to Akin Omole Group to sheath their sword over the State Exco Election for their legal fees to discontinue the litigation of the group against the party. Olubolade has sponsored various activities to heighten the party’s relevance in the state. He sponsored some ten women to Thailand for International Women Conference in 2012 while some Sixteen Party members were sponsored to Jerusalem on pilgrimage. He also variously sponsored some party members from Ekiti to Abuja for the mid-term presidential briefing, national convention, Engr. Segun Oni’s supreme court case and Peace Parley. He used to bear the cost of accommodation, feeding and other perks during these trips. He facilitated some federal jobs to his Ekiti kith and kin. As a member of the Federal Executive Council, he helped prevailed on some of his political associates at the helm of affairs of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to expedite the completion of all the Federal Government Projects in Ekiti. As chance favours the prepared mind, Olubolade’s experiences of governance is unrivalled and his political sagacity unequalled. In a crucial competition, it is judicious for the party to go for the best. As a matter of fact, all the senatorial districts have fielded aspirants for the primary elections in PDP. It is pertinent to caution here, especially all the proponents of undemocratic standard of zoning in Ekiti South Senatorial district that candidates of the zone have actively participated in PDP governorship primaries in the past without hindrances. Zoning could prove suicidal for Ekiti PDP because such a yardstick may preclude the emergency of right candidate to wrest power from the incumbency. Navy captain Olubolade is a social politician who knows the political terrains and has been an active participant since inception of the fourth republic. He is widely traveled and has a lot of exposures resourceful insights in governance. “A successful man continues to look for work after he has found a job”- This word of John Manson captures Navy Capt. Olubolade’s forays to politics after a successful military career. The secret of success is constancy to purpose and there is no place more delightful than home. Ekiti kete, let is just be understood that this has not been an assessment of how-well or how-ill he has performed, but an account of some and only some, of the events and situation of which he has been a part. Some of Navy Capt. Olubolade’s attributes are sorely required in Ekiti for the electoral success in the coming governorship elections. His entry into the race has heightened the fear of the incumbency who sees him as candidate to beat. The primary would be on his mettle and Midas touch, as he has got the required great tact and diplomacy to be in Ekiti Government House, come October, 2014. so lets support him.
