ELLERTON DRIVE EXTENSIONS | QUEANBEYAN FORUM The joint government announcement of $50 million to build the Ellerton Drive Extension (EDE) has thrown into sharp focus the need for a genuine community discussion to find a better solution to Queanbeyan’s transport needs. The Queanbeyan Conservation Alliance is partnering with the Jerrabomberra Residents’ Association to organise a forum on 24 August to start the conversation. But to be successful, the forum also needs lots of concerned residents to participate. The event is free and afternoon tea will be provided. We hope you can attend. The facilitated community conversation will be held at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre from 2pm – 4:30pm on Sunday, 24 August 2014. Please tell your neighbours, family and friends about the forum, too. We have developed a simple flyer to promote the forum. Contact me by replying to this email if you would like copies to distribute to your neighbours or to other people you known in Queanbeyan who have an interest in transport issues. This is a new style of public forum for Queanbeyan, one that will enable people to share their perspectives on transport plans and needs. It is designed to help Queanbeyan residents and decision-makers arrive at the best solution to meet our transport needs, one that has regard for all points of view and delivers an efficient and affordable, socially beneficial and environmentally responsible transport system. Dave Lavers, Principal of Labyrinth Consulting (and a Jerrabomberra resident) will facilitate the Community Conversation. A number of local interest groups and decision-makers from all spheres of government have been invited to participate – Queanbeyan City Council, State and Federal MPs and an ACT Government Minister.
