ELOI ELOI ..Mk 15:34 A strange language at an odd moment for One accustomed to ABBA ABBA. To know the reason for this shift, we must first trace the experience behind the words. Born by prophecy through virgin birth, the very expression of divinity in humanity. 100% God and 100% man; all potentials, I mean, omnipotence locked in flesh and blood. A bridge between heaven and earth as the first one to have seen the Father in His fullness and still on earth. The peak of humility yet the anchor of our souls. He knew human weaknesses and prevailed even when he could have superimposed His divinity over them; He refused and endured. When He said, ABBA ABBA, it was not an imaginary prayer like we sometimes do today, it was real to Him. He was one with ABBA, He had been with ABBA, only Him knew the true ABBA and thus He was always quick to say ABBA ABBA until this moment. History was about to hear another language from the One they had come to know as the Son of God by truth and the Son of man by purpose. As He hunged on that bloody cross stained with His own torn flesh and sweat mixed with the spit from the soldiers, as He looked up to the One He had always known as ABBA ABBA and took on the very worst form of humanity at that point, the form of sinful man. As he bore that heavy load initiated by Adam in the garden as he broke the first law given to mankind, eat not from this tree, and the blood of sin through the veins of all humanity grew stronger and as it were, men creating new ways to sin till the old serpent was now a dragon, that load of sin no bull could carry; He bore them at that instant and eternity freezed because to be in sin is to be separated from ABBA, and if the One who is one with ABBA is separated from ABBA, what a sacrifice this was. The pains He felt not from the whips but from the separation. He cried not from the shame but from that moment when ABBA was gone because of our sin and it is necessary this happened because if ABBA had not been separated, death could not have taken Him because the life in Him was greater than death. So in pains he cried His last cry but with this history making words, ELOI ELOI, meaning, My God My God. For once, He lost that intimacy of Fatherhood just to redeem all men back to Fatherhood. This was a farewell speech to ELOI ELOI because after this event, we need not cry same words again. This is all history to some but to Him who seats on the throne and has no past, present of future because He exists in eternity, to Him, it is still fresh as it were been done right now. This is why the blood speaks ever fresh. He cried ELOI ELOI so I can boldly cry today, ABBA ABBA meaning Father Father. Amen.
