ELWAK: FOOD PRICES SKYROCKETS FOOD prices remain high in Elwak town since the Kenyan Military under the operation “Linda Nchi” entered Somalia. A 50 kilogram of maize flour sells at Sh1,300 up from Sh 1,100, a gallon of 2.5kg of powder milk trades at Sh1,300 up from Sh1,100.A pack of 25kg wheat flour is up by Sh200 to cost Sh1,200. A packet of cigarette sells at Sh95 up from Sh65, a stick of Sportsman cigarette goes for Sh5.B Smokers in this region are on a merry making holiday as the price of single and businesses in Mandera County remain successful with no taxes levied on operators
