EMERGENCY EBOLA FUNDRAISER FOR SIERRA LEONE Night of Words: An evening of spoken word and storytelling by West African artists to raise funds supporting efforts to combat Ebola in Sierra Leone Monday 29 September 2014 6.00pm – 8.30pm Auditorium Herbert Smith Freehills Exchange House Primrose Street London EC2A 2EG Nearest Tube: Liverpool Street or Moorgate Performers include: • Usifu Jalloh – storyteller, Sierra Leone’s Excellence Award winner in Creative Arts and Bristol’s 2012 Storytelling Grand Slam Award winner • Kadija (George) Sesay – writer, poet, founder of SABLE LitMag • Ellen Thomas – actress, former EastEnders Star • Anni Domingo – actress, writer, director, lecturer • Inua Ellams –Merging visual art, poetry and theatre, telling stories with iconic imagery, humour and beauty he writes about his upbringing, the experience of immigration and about living in London today. We will also be holding a raffle with fantastic prizes including: • Tea for two at the House of Commons (courtesy of Jeremy Lefroy MP, who leads Project Umubano) • A photographic print of Sierra Leone courtesy of prize winning photographer, Aubrey Wade • Limited edition clothing from UK-Sierra Leonean fashion label, Kenema • Signed copy of British-Nigerian comedian, Gina Yashere’s latest DVD Poetry books, courtesy of Sable LitMag, will be on sale with proceeds going to the fundraising Suggested donation: £15 ticket entry Drinks and nibbles will be served courtesy of Herbert Smith Freehills Funds Raised will Support: 1. Kings Partnership – a charity providing medical aid to Connaught Hospital, Freetown 2. The Sierra Leone Ebola Emergency Fund – a diaspora organisation raising funds for the Pharmaceutical Department of the Ministry of Health, providing sanitation materials and protective clothing and equipment. 3. AdvocAid Sierra Leone – an organisation providing legal aid and welfare support to girls and women in detention. AdvocAid will supply 7 prisons with critical sanitation and welfare items.
