EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION January 26, 2015 Due to the hazards resulting from heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions, the Borough of Westwood is operating under a “State of Emergency”. Weather conditions are forecast to deteriorate throughout the evening and into Tuesday morning with snowfall accumulating at rates of 2-4 inches per hour. Borough offices will remain closed on Tuesday January 27, 2015. Residents are advised to exercise extreme caution and to remain off roadways so that our Department of Public Works can efficiently clear our streets and First Responders have unobstructed access in emergency situations. We further remind all residents that parking vehicles overnight on Borough Streets is prohibited. High winds are expected throughout the night and residents are reminded that any downed wires should be considered to be energized and dangerous. Do not step on or over downed wires, an d report any exposed wires or downed trees and branches immediately. Please be assured that our emergency services are operating on high alert, with police, fire, and ambulance personnel fully staffed. The borough is prepared to operate warming centers should a widespread power outage occur. We appreciate your cooperation for the duration of the storm’s impact on our area.
