EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROTEST TO THE DECISION OF THE FERGUSON GRAND JURY! STAND WITH THE PEOPLE OF FERGUSON DEMAND JUSTICE FOR MIKE BROWN & ALL VICTIMS OF POLICE TERROR 4 P.M. McKeldin Square, Pratt & Light Streets, downtown Baltimore (same location as the Trayvon Martin protests) after the Grand Jury announces its decision (see schedule below). If you have questions call 443-221-3775. Please join us in a massive protest to demand an end to police terror from Ferguson to Baltimore. We will protest regardless of the decision. STAND WITH THE PEOPLE OF FERGUSON In a statement to the press, representatives of the Peoples Power Assembly and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Baltimore Chapter said: Rev CD Witherspoon, president of the Baltimore SCLC and spokesperson for the Peoples Power Assembly stated, “We have watched in horror as the Missouri Governor and all police agencies have created an atmosphere of fear by declaring a state of emergency prior to protests even taking place. We are not fearful of the youth or of the people who are justifiably angry at the shooting of an unarmed Black teenager; we are fearful of the police and the excessive force and repression that has been used against those who oppose racial profiling, police terror and the growing inequality in this country between rich and poor.” Sharon Black, Peoples Power Assembly representative added, “The sheer amount of police repression and militarization is undeniably an attempt to sow widespread fear among all people, fan the flames of division and deny the people of Missouri the right to protest through intimidation. It criminalizes Black, Brown and poor youth. What has taken place in Ferguson is nothing short of a police occupation. We must say NO and we must stand with the people of Ferguson!” Both spokes people concluded, “The Mike Brown case represents every victim of police terror, not only in Ferguson but right here in Baltimore. Our local protests will draw the connections with local cases here at home including Tyrone West, Anthony Anderson, George King and many others. We will be launching a campaign for “Community Control of Police” and supporting all efforts that can curb police terror in Baltimore City and Maryland.
