ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY Self Esteem What is self esteem? Self esteem basically is how you see/view yourself. You can either have a high or low esteem/ view about yourself. Unfortunately a lot of people suffer from low self esteem and in the society and times that we live in there is this notion that image is everything and society tends to dictate the type of image every one is expected to conform to. Therefore if you are not tall, slim, have a figure 8(at least for the women, Lol), etc then one tends to begin to feel inferior and out of place. This is the beginning of how low self is formed, when you are not able to meet up with the Joneses so to say. And this also sadly is the beginning of how a lot of us just let ourselves go- the food binges begin(a lot of us use food as a form of comfort), careless dressing begins( we tend to give up and pretend that we dont really care), and the more we let ourselves go the more we secretly hate what we see in the mirror and the more depressed we become. I remember when growing up I used to have this big issue about the way I viewed myself. I used to think I was fat and that I wasnt very social etc. I was the one saying and believing all these things while my friends and other people I came in contact with were seeing something else. Many years later I stumbled across a picture of myself in the days I thought I was fat and I was like was I really this slim??? I could actually see my collar bones protruding in the picture. Lol!!!! The reason for this discourse this morning is that one of our purposes for setting up this group page is much more deeper than losing a few pounds/kgs here and there and generally feeling good BUT to also let us rediscover the true value of ourselves by viewing our selves through the eyes of our creator God Almighty. As in what does it profit you to lose all the weight in the world and still suffer from poor self esteem. What does the Almighty say about you. That is what is of most importance to me. 1. Therefore you are highly cherished and loved by the Almighty. The Master Potter! 2. Psalm 139:14 New King James Version (NKJV) 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[a]Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. - Discover yourself through the eyes of God and stop seeing yourself through the eyes of man.
