ENLIGHTEN ME? ESB A HIDDEN TAX AND DAYLIGHT ROBBERY? In a World where most people get up in the morning, flick on the kettle, have a shower, power up their computer, phone, TV, razor, on with the cooker, turn on a light and even PAY ATTENTION to an ALARM CLOCK I definitely need help as I am very confused with the blind or greedy mice, caught in a rat trap ESB & CER & a range of GOVERNMENTs. Promises like keeping unit prices down until 2013(increase in ’11 and ’12) by my persecutors Electric Ireland would make me happy until I read the full story, and a serious lack of trust in the owners/controllers with at least 8%faults and I insinuate betting on markets through the power lines of Endesa and eventually Enel . Throughout a serious downturn this company thrives on you and I like a vulture preys on the weak. Standing charge daily and unit price increase....TOTAL REVENUE INCREASE? 2006 €101.04 2012 €147.75 Standing charge daily increase +unit increase ...TOTAL REVENUE INCREASE.? .S.C.Daily increase value 2012 € 46.72 (1,460,000 homes plus connection fees) Cost effect on average* Irish homes in total € 640.00 *Average house uses 5000kWh Now add to that PSO From 1st October 2010 the PSO levy has been set to the following rates (Ex VAT): Domestic Customers: (€9.72annum 2006) €32.76/ annum or €2.73/month ADDING THESE THREE FIGURES YOU WILL GET €719.48 of an increase since 06 in your average household bill.(Commercial’s I closed my eyes to 6 years ago) Operating profit at ESB rose by 38 per cent to €469 million in 2011, despite slowing demand and difficult economic conditions. Jimmy Walsh of the Irish Times wrote under candlelight recently quoted Darragh O’Brien who said the semi-State was projected to record a profit of more than €500 million this year, yet it was still lumping price increase after price increase upon hard-pressed customers. In 2012 Mr. O’Brien said he wanted to know how Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Pat Rabbitte viewed this. Had he been in touch with the energy regulator or the ESB, or was he just going to remain silent on this issue? Seán Barrett (Ind) said the ESB chief executive, by permission of the regulator, recently earned about four times the salary of the Taoiseach. Are we being Empowered or just waking up to a pickpocket? Show or Tell…… How much after all the visible tax on your energy bill have we contributed in the profits we generated in the last 10 years(with another €100million+ predicted in 2012) Mr. Quinn said that the Board of ESB is recommending a dividend of €72.5million for 2011, bringing total dividends to the Exchequer over the last decade close to €1billion. ESB have refused to make any contribution whatsoever to the cost of the Pension levy despite making a profit of €469 million in 2011 and expected to be in excess of €500 million in 2012.What was the Government Levy on ESB profits in 2011/2012? that the government are responsible for a Fair Deal rather than Daylight Robbery. Does the government own the ESB? Yes well 95%.How were we left playing a game of Bonds, Sterling and markets in 2010, that I and austerity view costly at €669million? With the game up and most peoples idea of saving on energy, being laden with clothes, and still in the dark, why are we not encouraging the manufacture and construction of our own on and off-shore wind turbines, from the side of the country that is windy, and making and installing other renewables, like hydro, that we used before London had light. We could eliminate investing in imported fossil fuels yearly and dearly, instead of investing in the future for ourselves? Will we even try to become self-sufficient? NO! We and another one of our partners Endesa Spain will be bullied by the likes of ENEL, bought, sold on, dehydrated and on clean coal and gas, not a bright idea the import plan of the future. Despite the introduction of the renewable’s that are generating 14.8% but do have a far greater capacity( April 2010 50%), cutbacks in consumption as awareness improved through education in power saving, cutbacks in employees and costs of fossil fuels that in 2006 were expensive yet 80% of generation still remains in the form of those fossil fuels mainly being gas, despite Element Power willing investors to the hum of 8billion to export electricity to the UK. The one’s powering us or fooling us as recently as 2009 had the top man that shared bright ideas and was earning €750,000 but the new man will have a sustainable future having not been capped for Ireland at €318,000. , Our regulator that is CER is only the middle man, but definitely interested in keeping the light on, with 60 sharing a bonus of €240,000 last year and the leading light earned €180,000. The man who supposedly does the summonsing, I wonder is it to his office in Tallaght where the people are protesting at the five-fold gas cuts, counts up the enormous Taxes the prophets have shared, and takes a huge slice of our pie under yet another Government Levy, leaving us blue, cold, hungry and in darkness, with the introduction of smart meters 6 years later that really are not smart at all……but that is Aisling Fitzgibbon’s story to tell.Irish.I AM.
