ENTERTAINMENT NEWS 11/3/14 Nightcrawler, Ouija In Dead Heat For Box Office Title The box office race between Nightcrawler and Ouija is too close to call. The Halloween weekend appeared to be going Ouijas way, but now it looks like Jake Gyllenhaals Nightcrawler has crept past the horror flick. According to USA Today, Nightcrawler earned an estimated ten-point-nine-one-million dollars, while Ouija is projected to finish just behind with about ten-point-nine-million. The results from this rare photo-finish will come Monday when the final numbers are released. Rentrak box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian says its pretty remarkable that the top two films are within ten-thousand dollars of each other. Meanwhile, Brad Pitts Fury stays in the third spot this weekend after taking in another nine-point-one-million dollars. Gone Girl and The Book of Life round out the top five. Chris Rock, Prince Bring SNL Highest Ratings Of The Season Chris Rock and Prince are delivering a ratings win for Saturday Night Live. The Wrap reports Nielsens preliminary numbers show that Saturdays installment was the highest rated episode of SNL this season. During his monologue, Chris Rock pulled in viewers with his bold brand of humor, touching on everything from the Boston Marathon bombings to gun control. Chris didnt just push the envelope in his monologue. In a sketch poking fun at the show Shark Tank, Rock appeared as a member of the terrorist group ISIS who was trying to get funding for the organization. The skit made fun of the varying names of the group as well as their flag. The sharks passed on the groups pitch, but Kenan Thompsons character announced that he called Homeland Security, who burst into the Shark Tank and busted the terrorist organization. Rock also starred in a new installment of Hows He Doing, in which African-Americans comment on President Obamas term in office. Rock didnt just stick to current events, he also made fun of popular culture in a fake advertisement for medicine promising to cure vertigo caused by Taylor Swift. Saturdays episode also broke from the shows typical format. Instead of two musical performances, musical guest Prince took the stage for one long jam session. Backed by the band 3rdeyegirl, Prince welcomed guest vocalist Lianne La Havas for their duet Clouds from his album Art Official Age. He then dove into his songs Marz and AnotherLove from his and 3rdeyegirls album Plectrumelectrum. DA In Michael Jackson Trial Dies The Santa Barbara County District Attorney who was unsuccessful in his attempt to convict Michael Jackson on child molestation charges is dead. The L.A. Times says Tom Sneddon passed away from cancer Saturday at a Santa Barbara hospital at the age of 73. Sneddon was lead prosecutor in The King of Pops 2005 trial in Santa Maria. Jackson was charged with child molestation and conspiring to keep the alleged victim and his family against their will at the entertainers Neverland ranch. Jackson was eventually acquitted. Video Reportedly Shows Suge Knight Confronting Photographer About Son The world is getting its first look into events that eventually led to robbery charges for Death Row Records founder Suge [[ shoog ]] Knight and comedian Katt Williams. Video posted by TMZ appears to show Suge angrily confronting a female photographer he believed was taking pictures of his son. The video was supposedly taken on the day Suge and Katt allegedly stole the photographers camera. Those close to Suge have denied that he or Katt stole the womans equipment. In fact, his camp told the celebrity gossip network that the photographer was harassing his young son. Katt also told a similar story about the incident. The two were arrested separately last week with Katt arrested in Los Angeles, and Suge in Las Vegas. Because of a prior assault conviction, Suge could face 30-years to life behind bars if convicted. On the other hand, Williams could face up to seven years in prison. Johnny Depp Joins Marilyn Manson On Stage In L.A. Marilyn Manson got a Halloween assist from his friend and sometimes-rocker Johnny Depp this weekend. The shock rocker surprised fans at Friday nights Los Angeles concert by bringing out Depp and Die Antwoord [[ dee ahnt-wort ]] rapper Ninja for a special performance of The Beautiful People. Manson and Depp have played together in the past, including a collaboration at the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards. Manson has also frequented many of Depps red carpet movie premieres, most recently for this years release, Transcendence.
