EQUALITY Since 1972 the ACLU has been working to secure gender - TopicsExpress

EQUALITY Since 1972 the ACLU has been working to secure gender equality and ensure that all women and girls are able to lead lives of dignity, free from violence and discrimination, including discrimination based on gender stereotypes. This means an America where all women and girls have equal access to quality education, employment, housing, and health, irrespective of race, class, income, immigration status or involvement with the criminal justice system. Really? How can all women and girls in America, or anywhere else, have equal access to quality education, employment, housing, and health, no matter what race, class, income, immigration status or involvement with the criminal justice system? First of all, we may have been given equal rights, but we are not equal. You can’t tell me that a 32AA is going to have the same “respect and admiration,” as a36D. I know, because I’ve had both, on the same chest. Sometimes, we aren’t even equal to ourselves.
