ESCAPE ROUTES, ARE THEY REALLY NECESSARY WHEN CHRIST IS INVOLVED? 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Isaiah 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. Oftentimes I remember as a kid growing up in a strict home how I use to wriggle my way out of tough situation mostly induced by my act of disobedience. Then I have to lie and lie again to cover up the other petty lies until I was caught eventually and punished severely. In contrast I observe my sister take the pain of being truthful in good faith and before long earn the respect of my parent for being truthful and her words held in high esteem. With all my trying various escape routes, I only have to turn back sane route and confess all, though belated, but my words are held in very light weight. I often wonder was it worth the stress after all? A lie give birth to stream of lies that will eventually bow when truth sets in. This pictorial reminiscence is the bane of todays treatise. Temptation is a common thread among us as human beings! Some of the biggest battles you will deal with in your life involve the process of temptation. The best policy when you give in to temptation and sin is to quickly repent and admit you’re wrong and set a new course of action. God is omniscient God, even having all knowledge of us while yet we still in our mothers womb. What exactly can we hide from him? Yet in our human crafty heart we tend to believe we can deceive the one that created us and go unnoticed! The heart of man is terribly wicked and full of evil imagination, for in sin do our mother conceived us. Our only atonement lies in the blood of his only begotten son, only in Christ lies genuine repentance and forgiveness. In Christ alone lie the only escape route, for those that sincerely wish to be truthful to themselves. God is aware even before our misdeed, and always willingly to atone the sincere heart. Much of the sorrow in our lives is the result of having submitted to temptations of sin. Those who learn to resist temptation will realize a strong happy Christian life. Though we all are tempted to sin God has clearly said that He will always provide a way out if we are willing to take it, we can ESCAPE FROM TEMPTATION! The man who “endures temptation” ... or better, “perseveres under trial,” is BLESSED or happy because of the fruit or character that it builds into his life. While God may use and allow trials or temptations to exist from external sources for the expressed purpose of building our faith and character HE NEVER tempts us to sin ! The call when tempted externally is to remain steady or endure! These kinds of temptations or trials are to prove our character, not destroy it! The greatest struggles against temptation however come not from external sources as much as it does from INTERNAL sources – our fallen nature! Elongating it with creation of various escape routes only deepen our sense of guilt and sadness. Tell it to Christ alone, for there is no condemnation for those in Christ! Be willing! Much to come next week!
