ETERNAL PROVISION HUMAN NATURE WANTS TO JUDGE – GOD’S NATURE - TopicsExpress

ETERNAL PROVISION HUMAN NATURE WANTS TO JUDGE – GOD’S NATURE IS TO FORGIVE. THAT’S WHY WE CALL IT SALVATION. I have seen a lot of hopelessness in my seventy trips around the sun. I have been involved in situations with people who both contemplated and actually committed suicide. That, of course, is the extreme but there are many degrees of depression that would rob a person of their hope. I have never counseled anyone who felt that their problems were minor. A young lady came to my office for a counseling session. She began by saying Pastor, my problem is that I love to lie. I don’t embellish the truth – I don’t even come close to the truth. I love to lie. Never before and not since have I had to deal with such a situation. In my experience I have found that most people get caught up in a lie occasionally. It is never right and cannot be excused and must be repented of. At first I was frustrated not knowing how to proceed. I took her hand and we began to pray. I just waited for the Holy Spirit to guide my words. I said “Lord we are faced with a grievous problem. According to the Bible liars are going to spend eternity in hell unless they repent and receive your forgiveness.” After our prayer we talked for a few minutes and there were several sessions that followed. There was a marked difference in her life and all because of God’s eternal provision. It might have been easy to be critical of this young lady but who among us has not grieved the Holy Spirit at one time or another? If we are honest with ourselves we all would have to admit that without the provision of God we are desperate. The forgiveness of God is without limit but it is because the sacrifice of Jesus knew no boundaries. All the gold on earth and all the riches of heaven could not have an affect on the salvation of even one soul. When we fail and our sin is revealed it is our human nature to want to judge. The good news is that when we fail and our sin is revealed God’s nature is to forgive. That’s why we call it eternal provision. ETERNAL PROVISION John 3:16 - …whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. When a world was lost and nothing more could be done Who could affect a difference? Was there anyone What would it take to save just one soul? Not all this world – not all its gold On Calvary, Jesus said why hast thou forsaken me? There must be a better way than to hang upon a tree When God speaks all creation stands at attention The sacrifice for man was beyond description The vaults of heaven were emptied to provide redemptions plan God couldn’t be God if he couldn’t supply for man Angels and all the riches of heaven wouldn’t be enough Satan thought he had won but it was just a bluff Like a rose, Jesus had to be transplanted A brand new residence had to be granted He was born of a virgin pure and undefiled God and the world would be reconciled An ocean filled with human blood, couldn’t pay the price No thought conceived in the mind of man could suffice It would merely serve as fodder to fuel the flames of hell And eternity would be where lost souls would forever dwell If God had a beginning and if eternity could end If there was no limit to what I could spend If there was any other answer upon which we could depend Yesterday would be tomorrow and today we’d have to suspend But God isn’t confined to days and hours and minutes Abundance is God’s M.O. – He has no limits When we have done all that we can possibly do We must remember God has just begun – he isn’t through R.L.
