EULOGY FOR A BELOVED MOTHER I would first like to Welcome you all - TopicsExpress

EULOGY FOR A BELOVED MOTHER I would first like to Welcome you all for reading, and thank everyone for being very supportive. I have the opportunity to write about Mama, whose life we are celebrating since her passing. As I set about this task; I realized that a son sees his mother in a different context than everyone else does. It is difficult to sit here and type today, but as I do so on behalf of my siblings, I will try to represent the shared feelings of love, devotion and admiration we all felt towards our mother. My mother would be very pleased and honored to see that you all here this day to share in this with us. She is survived by 12 children of which some are here in the USA, some in Nigeria and some had passed on to glory. From those 12 children, she was blessed with twenty grandchildren and eight great grandchildren She was a strong person and this strength was shown in every aspect of her life. Along with her strength, she was extremely caring. No matter what she may have been dealing with, she will never burden anyone in any way, instead she would be concern with the well-being of all those around her.. Although mother did not have an easy life, but she managed to have a good life. I don’t think I ever heard my mother complain about anything, and she certainly didn’t spend her final days going on about missed opportunities. I honestly do not know how to adequately describe our mother with words. She lived her life in the most positive way. She saw the good in everything and encourages others to do the same. Mama was a devout Christian, and her unshakable faith in God could be seen in her actions, and the incredible example she showed her children, and grandchildren. She was a true role model, a person that possessed qualities that should be emulated by all. My mother cared deeply for everyone she knew, whether you were her family, friend or a member of the community. She had the kindest heart of anyone we knew. All of our friends and families who knew her called her “mama”, and in my youth, I almost thought that was her real name and I soon realized because she was like a mother to everyone who knew her. She was a person so filled with light. Everyone knew her. Everyone loved her. She was like an institution in the village. She was a generous, loving, supportive and unselfish woman who always put other people before herself. We will miss her with all of our hearts and will always cherish the times we spent together when we were young Kids. Though she is gone, her memory will live on in all of our hearts forever. Her spirit has not left us. Everyone who was ever touched by her in his or her lifetime should have faith that she will be watching over them because that is just the kind of person she was. Our mom was a remarkable woman and I doubt she ever realized how much impact she has had on our lives and the lives of anyone that knew her. Her love for all of us is what is going to pull us all through this. I took comfort in knowing that right now, she is standing at the gates of heaven, without pain, struggles and neglect of this world. That is what is getting me through this. My knowing that mama finally would be accompanied by legions of Angels in heaven, while she is being received by God saying welcome home my loyal and faithful servant. It makes me so happy for her, even though I am so sad for us. “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”. Once again we thank you all for being here tonight. By Vince A. Ordia
