EVANGELISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY - PART 2 IS EVANGELISM STILL NEEDED TODAY? Objectives: You will understand purpose of evangelism is betterment of human soul. Evangelism is needed today more than ever. The advancement of human life has not ended the need for evangelism. In fact, it has increased the need for evangelism. Evangelism target is the betterment of human soul. Evangelism offers the gospel of Jesus Christ that can reach all areas of human endeavor; areas that technology and development falls short. These could be areas of health, social harmony, and peace and poverty eradication. You will notice as technology advanced the needs gap between people also grows. In Economics, we learn the law of increasing poverty. This is said in a summarized way as “Rich get richer and the poor get poorer. According to Karl Marx’s, free market system (capitalism), those who have money make them better while those without become worse as they do not have the means. For there to be a relief for the poor, governments need to constantly jump in and intervene. You will now see the danger of total privatization, it prevents governments from interfering. The private companies decide where their profits go and how to hire and fire. By deciding where the money goes, they decide who benefits. As always it is the rich few. Whoever has will be given more, and he will have abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him – Matthew 13:12; 25:29 In view of such economic climate, evangelism is more valuable than ever.
