***EVENT 99 REPORT Paul Birdsall of Congleton Harriers*** Record holders return The last Congleton parkrun in double digits took place on Saturday and both male and female course record holders returned to Astbury mere and finished first and second overall. Chris DAVIES of Telford AC finished in a time of 17:40, Allen BUNYAN of Macclesfield Harriers was second male 18:47 and David MORRIS of South Cheshire Harriers was third in 18:51. Olivia WALWYN of City of Norwich AC finished in 18:24 followed by Amanda DAVIES of Telford AC in a new PB time of 18:58 and third was Sharon JOHNSTONE of Wilmslow RC in 19:40. These 6 were joined by 171 other runners which means the highly coveted Golden Bear award is shared this week between Sarah RICHARDS (176) and Gavin BROOKES (178). 34 runners were celebrating with new PB times – well done to all of them. Special mention to Laura JELF who went under 26 minutes for the first time finishing in 25:40 and to Kevin STONE who dipped under 27 minutes taking 29 seconds off his previous best time finishing in 26:57. Fourteen different clubs were represented and 25 runners were taking part at Congleton for the first time including Graham TRACEY who finished 18th overall in a time of 21:25 representing Vegetarian Cycling & AC – Well done Graham. Juniors It was great to see 10 juniors out on Saturday and four of them excelled themselves with new personal bests a big well done to Ella KENNERLEY who took an impressive 50 seconds off her previous best time, Mia DONATHY who went under 24 minutes for the first time with her 23:43. Isaac BROOKES with a fantastic 27:17 and Thea GARFIELD going under 29 minutes for the first time with her 28:55 Volunteers A huge ‘Thank You’ to the 15 volunteers that made the parkrun happen this week and as always we are looking for more so if you haven’t volunteered yet this year – then now is the time to give something back and get your name down! Milestones The 15th November will be the 100th Congleton parkrun, if you’re lucky enough to have a 10, 50 or 100 t-shirt please wear it and turn up early so we can arrange/herd you in to the number 100 for a photo. ## Also for this week only – please wear a run number pinned to your top – more details will follow ## On the 13th December we will be 2 years old! We will mark the occasion with fancy dress – so get raiding the back of your closets! Stats Corner Current standing in the Mens annual points competition: Bryan CASEY (Unattached) 3398 pts. Frank MANNING (Biddulph RC) 2707 pts. David BETTELEY (South Cheshire Harriers) 2651 pts. Current standing in the Womens annual points competition: Michelle Louise MATTHEWS (Congleton Harriers & AC) 4033 pts. Jackie Anne MOSS (Congleton Harriers & AC) 3688 pts. Kate HEATHCOCK (Unattached) 3292 pts. The following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores: Amanda DAVIES (VW40-44) was graded 82.34% for the time 18:58 (5th overall) Olivia WALWYN (SW30-34) was graded 78.03% for the time 18:24 (2nd overall) Chris DAVIES (VM35-39) was graded 76.13% for the time 17:40 (1st overall) Congleton parkrun started on 15th December 2012, and since then 2,547 different runners, including participants from 205 athletics clubs, have completed 12,581 runs covering a total distance of 62,905 km, and there have been 3,118 new Personal Bests. The womens record is held by Olivia WALWYN who ran in a time of 00:16:58 on 2013-02-09 (event number 7). The mens record is held by Chris DAVIES who ran in a time of 00:15:20 on 2013-04-20 (event number 17). The Age Grade course record is held by Victoria Ann PERRY who recorded an 89.86% run (19:53) on 16th November 2013 (event number 47).
