EVENTS THAT UNFOLDED-UNITECH SAGA ............................................................... •The Unitech saga does not only reflect the fight to bring back legitimate Vice Chancellor Dr. Albert Schram. It is the fight to weed out one of the deadly disease that is affecting all the systems of our country called CORRUPTION. Currently, not even one of those who oppose this boycott will stand up on your feet to fight corruption. In my strongest and sure view, there are a lot of Papua New Guineans who are viewing corruption in opposite direction. Instead of fighting it, we are knowingly either supporting or practicing it. Corruption has transformed many of us into becoming slaves, disciples or followers of it. If only we all can come out publicly and meaningful sacrificing everything that we have like what the students are doing to fight corruption in the name of justice and transparency. Let us not be termed as keyboard warriors arguing with our fancy words to score points. Instead, let us apply the walk the talk approach and be real warriors who are able to fight corruption without fear or favour. In doing so, we will provide a conducive environment for our uocoming generations to dwell in it without this common addressable disease. •Some days ago, I made an analysis on the curiousity of ONeills (Governments) next move by stating that his next move will be a great threat to the students since he will give his very best effort to defend and safeguard his adopted father, a failed politician of Eastern Highlands and the former chancellor Mr. Philip Stagg. Just after my post, he comes ONeills moves now: 1. Newly appointed HERST Minister and Member for Sohe Hon. Delilah Gore flew over to Lae in a move to conduct a round table discussion outside the city at 10 mile with Student Representative President (SRC) Mr. Eddie Nagual and Senior Executive Management Team of the university. However, the first attempt were unsuccessful due to the absenteeism of the student leader Mr. Nagual. 2. Police were then called into the campus in a failed attempt to arrest Mr. Nagual and those vocal behind him. 3. The female minister, held a press conference and urges the students to immediately return to class. She warned the students to end the boycott or government in a very rare and a low move will declare State of Emergency (SOE) into the campus and cancel the 2014 academic year for Unitech. 4. It is well understood that the government has once again gone far too low and will definitely set record in PNG with its view to immediately appoint a new university council. By then, Unitech will have a total of 3 councils-new, old, interim. The said new council will then create a vacancy in VCs post and advertise it worldwide. The Prime Minister has backed his ministers move by endorsing the above points (3&4). While endorsing the points, he said STUDENTS HAVE GOT NO RIGHTS TO APPOINT OR DEMAND VICE CHANCELLOR. THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL DOES THAT (The National, March 17, pg. 5). What kind of council is Peter ONeill referring to? Sir Nagora Bogan, the chairman of current interim council has reaffirmed his teams position for Dr. Schram to be reinstated as VC. He calls on the government to fast track the process of his working VISA in order to restore peace and normalcy. Why does the Sevua Report takes too long to be table on the floor of the parliament? Gore and ONeill said parliament will deliberate on it on the next parliament sitting. If ONeill can signed an unconstitutional loan of K3billion within a day by breaching Section 209 of the Constitution which requires parliaments approval, why prolonging the deliberation of Sevua Report? Can the interim council decision to reinstate Dr. Schram be respected or is the government trying to overrule the legitimate decision like the case of PNG Power Ltd where the government overrule the board decision by reinstating the sacked CEO Mr. John Tangit? Declaring SOE and nullifying the academic year will not and will never change anything but will only bring in more disasters. What will be ONeills next measures if the above are not achieved?
