EVERY ACT OF COMMUNICATION IS AN ACT OF TRANSLATION. Translation revitalizes the study of literature and the humanities. All acts of communication and interpretation are acts of translation. Translation destroys language walls and illuminates the gestures, assertions, and utterances of people in other nations. Translation heightens our sensitivity to the sensibilities of foreign cultures and customs. Translation Studies examines the art and craft of translation in Translation Workshops, Creative Writing seminars and World Literature courses. Translation erases the borders between disciplines, fostering interdisciplinary thinking, research and builds bridges between the Humanities, the Sciences, and Art and Technology. Translation charts innovative ways to study the reading and interpretation of verbal, visual, musical and digital texts. Translation Studies will explore how digital technology will impact the art and craft of translation in the future and the interpretation of artistic works.
