EVERYONE HAS A STORY... Routine trip to the store; routine impatient wait at an aisle; after the long wait at the 20 items or less I notice a woman two customers ahead... shes struggling to pick up her items from her scooter... I go over to help her and shes very appreciative. I ask her if shed like to wait for me and my friend Ryan we would be glad to help her. She, again, was so appreciative. Between aisle one and the last aisle she tells me something that touched my heart. I learned of her husband and how he, her rock, had given up on life and was struggling with illness. Her shopping experience had been a difficult one that afternoon and this small expression of ours was greatly appreciated. As we are exiting the store she realizes she had forgotten one thing. I asked her, What? Ill go back. She said it was silly and selfish. I told her, No, Ill go back. We made it to her car and loaded up her car. She said she was craving a peach creamed pie from McDonalds. So, we went back while she waited. At McDonalds, they were out of that flavor, and that we would need to wait 12 minutes for the apple flavored type. I left kind of sad that I couldnt get her her special treat. As I approached her and the car in the parking lot I noticed through the car window that she had money in her hand. As I gave her the bad news of the peach-filled treat she attempted to hand me some money. I told her no cause she would be robbing me of a blessing. She looked at me and said, I pray that one day someone will bless you... I told her, you just did. She truly opened my selfish eyes. I dont write this to show everyone what a good man I am; Im not. On the contrary, it made me realize that my true impatient self has wasted so many opportunities to help others. She spoke to me with her story this afternoon. Stop and listen... everyone has a story. I considered it a blessing to now be a part of hers.
