EVERYONE IN GLASGOW/SCOTLAND! Some of the absolute best films I - TopicsExpress

EVERYONE IN GLASGOW/SCOTLAND! Some of the absolute best films I saw last year at the LFF are playing at the Glasgow Film Festival in February... and at least three are near Masterpieces... Above all else, see THE FALLING (Dir: Carol Morley) starring Maisie Williams, Florence Pugh, Joe Cole and Maxine Peake. Its kind of like if Picnic at Hanging Rock had a love child with Heavenly Creatures and it was raised in the English countryside by Nic Roeg. After that, make time for SPRING and IT FOLLOWS (from the director of the incredible Myth of the American Sleepover). Both films benefit from knowing as little as possible going in, but rest assured It Follows is arguably the best horror film of the last decade. If you still want more, check out APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR (Written, Directed by and Starring Desiree Akhavan)... A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE LATE AT NIGHT, an Iranian Vampire Western in Black and White directed by Ana Lily Amirpour which isnt half as Hipster as it sounds... WHITE GOD from Hungarian Auteur Kornél Mundruczó, which in crude terms is best described as a Social-Realist Rise of the Planet of the Dogs.... and WILD TALES, one of the funniest two hours youll spend in a cinema all year, an Argentinian anthology weaving six-interconnected stories touching on the failings of the Argentinian Government. Again, the less you know the better. Finally, I missed PHOENIX but everyone I know who saw it says it was almost Best of Fest... so check that out to. Alix Austin, Kiah Ní Dhúghláis, Jamie Melrose, Nick Scholey, Nicki MacDonald, April Gilogley, Keir Dawson Siewert (if youre up there then...)... check them out!
