EW has confirmed that Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, Grey’s Anatomy‘s longstanding golden couple, have signed new two-year contracts with the show, meaning Mer-Der are here to stay for at least a while longer. Grey’s Anatomy, while not officially renewed by ABC, remains a lock for an 11th season. Back in August, original cast member Oh announced her departure from the long-running medial soap, leading some to worry other longtime cast members could be headed out the door. In an interview with EW just before the news broke about Oh, Dempsey described the tenth season as a “celebration.” “It’s been a remarkable journey to be around for 10 seasons…and we want to enjoy it as much as we can,” he said. In addition to Pompeo and Dempsey, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson are the only remaining cast members who have been around since the show’s first season. Their contracts are next up for negotiation, according to reports
