Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of over 200 persons. Save the Children seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Persons for the operations. 5. Capacity Strengthening and Organizational Development Manager (1 Position); Kampala Job Purpose: The Capacity Strengthening and Organisational Development Manager takes responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive ―Capacity Strengthening Programme‖ for the SCI Uganda Country Programme. Tasks include developing and launching the programme, planning, coordinating, facilitating, monitoring and documenting all Save the Children’s internal and external partnership related capacity strengthening and OD processes. The candidate shall provide technical support in capacity strengthening and organisational development and will be responsible for designing guidelines and strategies and will work at both the national and sub-national level to empower and develop others as well as partners at all levels. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Organizational Studies, Pedagogy or other relevant field; - Have at least 5 years of documented practical work experience with capacity strengthening and specifically with OD processes; - Demonstrate robust understanding of and experience with organizational dynamics and change processes; with extensive knowledge of and experience in capacity strengthening and organizational development approaches, theories, practical application, planning and monitoring and evaluation; - Demonstrated methodological grounding in, and practical experience with partnership development, management and approaches; - Have a good grasp of pedagogical principles and teaching methodologies; - Be a good listener and communicator (verbally and in writing). 6. Social Behavior Change and Community Mobilization Specialist (1 Position) Ntungamo Job Purpose The Social and Behavior Change and Community Mobilization (SBC/CM) Specialist is a key member of the team responsible for the development and implementation of a community-based social and behavior change strategy and related country activities focused on preventing malnutrition in the community under the SPRING/Uganda Nutrition project. The SBC/CM Specialist will assist in developing and implementing activities that lead to a strengthened community-based nutrition approach in Uganda in a particular district covered by this project. The SBC/CM Specialist will work in close collaboration with the SPRING District Nutritionist as well as with members of the district nutrition team, strategic information advisors, NGOs, district development officers and other relevant stakeholders in implementation of preventive services at community levels. The SBC/CM Specialist will serve as a direct link between SPRING/Uganda and other implementing partners in the district working on the community wide preventive of malnutrition. The SBC/CM Specialist is supervised by the Social and Behavior Change Communication Advisor. The Specialist may also be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Work, Community Development, Community Psychology, Public Health or nutrition. Master’s degree in the relevant field is an added advantage. - At least 6 years of proven experience in implementing community-based nutrition or related programs/interventions - Experience working in social behavior change programs or related activities—formative research, strategy development 7. Program Manager MNCH (1 Position); Fortportal Job Purpose: The Program Manager takes overall responsibility for managing of SCIs MNCH Italy/SC Korea projects in Kasese and Bundibugyo, and guiding and monitoring the performance of a team of 6-10 program staff. Working closely with the Regional area Manager, the health advisor and designated SCI member technical advisors for the project, he/she will ensure the overall compliance and integrity of the program, and ensure its success and visibility. S/he will provide leadership and daily oversight for planning and implementation of activities including; internal monitoring and evaluation of project The Program Manager will work closely and liaise with the other project managers of other projects in the region to spar integration and benefit from project synergies within the region; while ensuring that project implementation is well aligned to approved design, SCI program quality benchmarks and contributes to SCI’s overall country and global outcomes and breakthrough for children. The Program Manager may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing or a higher diploma in Midwifery with significant field experience. Social Scientists with a post graduate qualification in Public Health at Masters level in addition to long term working experience in the health sector are also encouraged to apply; - Minimum of at least five years of experience managing facility and community based MNCH or SRH and Gender or Social Behaviour Change communication, programs in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO); - Experience managing teams to deliver results; People management skills - team building, with experience of supervising staff - Efficient report writing and presentation skills as well as proficiency in use of excel, word, outlook and Epi info or any other bio-statistical package; - Proven experience in training and building capacity of various stakeholders in Maternal Neonatal and Child Health; - Understanding of models of taking health interventions to scale; - Budget monitoring and management skills with experience in managing medium –large sized projects; - Experience of working with local partners and conduct training as a Master trainer in ICCM, Community newborn care and family planning delivery and mentorship of Village Health Teams needed. 8. Program Manager Rwenzori KIMCHI, (1 Position); Fort portal Job Purpose: The Program Manager takes overall responsibility for managing the Rwenzori KIMCHI project, and guiding and monitoring the performance of a team of 6 program staff. Working closely with the SC Korea Rwenzori KIMICHI Manager, the health advisor and the regional area manager, he/she will ensure the overall compliance and integrity of the program, and ensure its success and visibility. S/he will provide leadership and daily oversight for planning and implementation of activities including; internal monitoring and evaluation of project The Project Manager will work closely and liaise with the other project managers of other projects in the region to spar integration and benefit from project synergies within the region. Senior Officer, MNCH Capacity Building, (2 Positions); Kasese & Bundibugyo Job Purpose: The Senior Officer Maternal and Newborn and Child Health Capacity Building is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating all project MNCH facility-based capacity building activities in their district of location including; offsite and onsite training; onsite mentorship, quality improvement, documentation and tracking of capacity building activities in collaboration with the district health team leadership and the project monitoring evaluation, accountability and learning officer. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis and to coordinate district level activities on behalf of the MNCH program manager. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in medicine or health related subject or higher diploma in either midwifery or nursing or equivalent accrued working experience. A Postgraduate training in public health, health systems strengthening, Reproductive Health and Gender, is an added advantage; - Minimum of five years working experience in MNCH related programming in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO); - Skills and experience in training and mentorship of health facility based health workers is an added advantage. 10. Senior Officer – Behavior Change Communication, (3 Positions); Fort portal, Kasese & Bundibugyo Job Purpose: The Senior Officer Social and Behaviour Change is responsible for leading and coordinating all support and demand creation activities including field coordination of formative research activities, coordination of activities for adaptation and communication/dissemination of behaviour change communication messages; training of and support for mother peer support groups, engagement of local media, district level advocacy activities; tracking and reporting on support demand creation activities focused on improving community support for MNCH; and community utilization of known high impact MNCH interventions under the MNCH Western project. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis and to coordinate district level activities on behalf of the MNCH program manager. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in health related subject or social sciences or a higher diploma in either midwifery, nursing or clinical officer with equivalent accrued working experience; - Postgraduate training in public health, SBCC; Health education and promotion , is an added advantage; - Minimum of 3 years working experience in MNCH related programming in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO). - Skills and experience in implementing SBCC programs and knowledge of the Community Action Cycle approach for community mobilization is needed; - Experience of working with District Local Government on MNCH programs with a focus on mobilizing community support and creating demand for MNCH services; - Knowledge of the local languages used in the Respective District is needed. 11. Senior Officer Data Management, (2 Positions); Fort portal & Kasese Job Purpose the Data Management officers is responsible for ensuring and maintaining an accurate and up to date project data base to inform the MNCH project indicators, including providing training and on-going support for project and partner staff to ensure timely and quality data collection, analysis, storage, retrieval and reporting; participation in providing data for production of project periodic reports, compiling data on project progress performance against set targets. The Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis and to coordinate district level activities on behalf of the program manager. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, or statistics. Additional training in biostatistics or professional data management courses, MIS and DHIS2, is an added advantage; - Minimum of three years working experience in health related programming in Uganda (preferably with an International or national NGO); - Experience of working with District Local Government on health programs with a focus improving reporting for HMIS using DHIS2; - Training and mentorship of District level partners and or health workers in clinical data collection management and reporting. 12. Senior Officer, Community Health (2 Positions); Bundibugyo, & Kasese Job Purpose: The Senior Officer Community Health is primarily responsible for planning and ensuring quality and timely delivery of community based services of the MNCH program; including leading and coordination in collaboration with the District Health Team Leadership-mapping and training of VHTs in ICCM and community newborn care; integrated outreach mobile outreach MNCH clinics; child health days ; support supervision and mentorship of VHTs; and accurate documentation and reporting of community based activities The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis and to coordinate district level activities on behalf of the MNCH program manager. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a health related subject or higher diploma in either midwifery, nursing or clinical officer. Postgraduate training in either public health, or health systems strengthening, or community health, or reproductive Health and Gender, is an added advantage; - Minimum of 3 years working experience in MNCH related programming in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO); - Knowledge of local languages in Kasese or Bundibugyo and willingness to work and stay in the districts; - Experience of working with local partners and conduct training as a Master trainer in ICCM, Community newborn care and family planning delivery and mentorship of Village Health Teams needed. 13. Senior Officer Disaster Risk Reduction, (3 Positions); Gulu, Wakiso & Moroto Job Purpose: The Senior Officer is responsible for the daily implementation of Livelihood activities in the selected communities to enhance increase in food production, income level and improved nutrition in Partnership with a civil society organisation. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Education, Agriculture or Social Science, Development Studies or related field, or equivalent accrued working experience; - A minimum of three years working experience in Livelihoods and development-related programming in Uganda (preferably with an International NGO); - Experience and demonstrated skills in mobilizing community structures to improve livelihoods, food security and Disaster Risk Reduction. 14. Senior Officer, Child Rights Governance (1 Position); Moroto job Purpose: Reporting to the Area Manager, Central, the Senior Officer takes overall responsibility for the technical implementation of the local level CRG thematic programme in the region; and participates in national level activities including supporting synergy between and linking up local and national level activities. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis. Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications; - Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, social work and social administration, development studies, law, or any relevant field with specific experience or training on the Child Rights Governance and Child Rights Programming. Post Graduate training in Project Management and Community Development is an added advantage; - At least 3 years implementing programmes with strong linkage to the CRC, child rights governance and child rights programming preferably with International NGOs. General specifications applicable to all positions; - Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage. - Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities. - Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team. - Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must. - Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching. - Excellent time management and planning capacity. - Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
