EXTRA EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!! SHARE!!! REOOST!!!!! TCC and its allies are really working to change communities forever. Our timing is impeccable! Food for thought. This years post election results require an analysis that goes beyond the numbers and enrollment. The Corridor has served the Democratic party well, but we have not gotten much in return. While our elected officials should yield a lot of influence based on their constituencies, they speak about challenges they face in getting the power structure to recognize their influence and leveraging the resources we need. Republicans and their radical social agenda (anti immigrant, womens equality concerns, etc.) prevents them from truly engaging The Corridor. The focus of the power brokers is always on swing districts. Both parties look to deliver for those districts even though ours are the ones ailing from the poorest performing schools, high crimes, high foreclosure rates, horrible services, etc. We need a concerted effort to truly engage the electorate in voting for candidates that can champion and advocate for us. We need to enter into agreements where the elected understand we (the community) have your back! Not the individuals who have proved incompetent or impotent in winning elections. The self fulfilling prophecy, our comnunity does not vite, is just that. If the turnout is low we need to focus on turning our people out, COLLECTIVELY! TCC and NYCC got 1200 people out to vote for an OFF SEASON SCHOOL BD ELECTION in little than a months notice. What can we do w YOUR HELP AND MONTHS OF ORGANIZING! To the elected officials that genuinely have our interest at heart, I truly believe we can be the army that earns you the respect you deserve. Join us on Mondays at the TCC meetings. 6-8pm at the Law offices of Frederick K. Brewington (556 Peninsula Blvd.).
