Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to - TopicsExpress

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - II Corinthians 9:7 Im the last person in the world who needs to be writing a devotional about giving. Im not here to talk about tithing or giving money and im certainly not here to ask for money or any of that. Im not going to talk about money at all....like...AT ALL. I guess im writing this because I can be a cheapskate soul. Let me explain. What parts of myself am I giving to God? What parts of my life am I allowing The Father to have? I read this passage of scripture and I am crushed. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart What you have decided in your heart I cant speak for anyone else, but I know that sometimes...actually..most of the time all I ever do is ask for things and when it comes down to giving....I give whats left, instead of giving until theres nothing left. God wants what we have decided in our hearts and that blows my mind because when Im really honest with myself I have decided in my heart to just bring God whats left especially when Im broken, or lost, but not just when im broken. Truth is, when things are going great, and I feel on top of the world Im guilty of not giving that to God. The amount of times I have come to the throne wanting, crumbled and broken with my offering of all I have left instead of the attitude of : God, you can have everything has me feeling convicted. I try and strive to make it as far as I can on my own, and then when it falls apart, and Im lost, I bring whats left to God. Now, dont get me wrong. Coming to the throne with whats left is more than enough, but as a child of the king, I want to bring more. I dont want to give whats left, I want to bring my best. Its in these moments where we can examine ourselves, and really look at what we are offering to The Father. What are we allowing Him to have? When I wrote Completely the original line of the chorus was : Youre my redeemer I crawl to the cross Upon hearing this my dad, (who is doing MUCH better by the way, thanks for the prayers guys) said Ryan, Gods children dont have to crawl to His cross...they can run Decide in your heart what you want to give, but I challenge you: Give more than whats left. Bring ALL OF YOU. RUN to the cross with your hands full of whatever you have. RUN to the cross with EVERYTHING, not just whats left. Be blessed today, and go out and love someone today. -Ryan
