Each time I hear this song it brings a tear to my eye. It is so beautiful and so truly captures Eggemoggin Reach and life there. With such perfection Dan Fogelberg captured our lives there, those of us who have lived it and know it well. In 2007 on this day Dan lost his battle with prostate cancer and the world lost a wonderful soul and musician. Each year on this day I am compelled to listen to this song and to ask all of my friends for a couple favors... My husband Charlie was fortunate enough to survive prostate cancer. And my friend Jean Fogelberg gave us some very sound advice about post surgery treatment. We listened and took that advice and I do believe had we not, things would have gone very differently. Because of that advice, I cannot thank Jean enough. She was an angel for both of us. First favor...Ladies MAKE YOUR MEN get checked! Men, just do it! Please do not ignore this because it makes you uncomfortable. Ladies have a not so great time getting checked for ovarian cancer with pap smears. Please, get your PSA tests done.
