Earlier today I had yet another outpatient surgical procedure to remove some discolored skin my dermatologist was concerned with. This was the fourth time in three months, however, this time was different. The prior procedures took 10-20 minutes and were performed by the Doc and one assistant in one of the standard rooms. This time I was shown into what appeared to be a full fledged operating room. Gulp! There were three assistants setting up numerous carts, tables, and instruments. I knew I was in for more than I was had thought. The procedure took about 45 minutes and required a second doctor. They removed a one and a half inch by a half inch deep oval shaped piece of skin from the middle of my back. I was not a happy camper at all. The Doc could see that I was very unnerved so she tried her best to help me relax. So suggested that I close my eyes and imagine I was at the beach. So I tried.
