Earlier today I was directed to the ACs story on the damaged AFD - TopicsExpress

Earlier today I was directed to the ACs story on the damaged AFD ladder truck. A story that originated with my report on the 15th, and was followed up with the official estimate for damage on WGAC yesterday. In the process of defending my reports against some rather pointed criticism, I mentioned the name of the employee who is responsible for the mishap. That post has been taken down by the AC with the explanation you see attached. Read from the bottom up, I post this here to further show that I refuse to merely take what is spoon fed to the local media by the powers that be. Lt. Harmon Brown is the firefighter in question, and my reporting of that fact has not been challenged by anyone. --------------------------------------------------------------- Then why dont you verify before you allow people to misquote me? That happens ALL the time. That name is SOLID...100% verified. I posted it days ago...and have repeated it on the air...and it stands unchallenged. I cant help it if your reporter is unwilling to investigate beyond a press release. If you remove the name, you can repost. ------------------------------------------- AUSTIN RHODES POSTED : Just as with the steroid case... ...I believe there was an active attempt to cover this accident up in an effort to protect a fair haired child in the Lt. who was responsible. His name is Harmon Brown. WHY wouldnt that information be released by the fire department? What is his record when it comes to such things? Why was the usual drug testing/risk management protocol apparently altered in this case? By the way...my 3 sources merely verified the event occurred, not any kind of damage estimate. Yes, the estimate I described on the air, as it was related to me, was much greater than what this report indicates. I am trying to get to the bottom of that discrepancy, no doubt, and while relieved that the damage may not have been as bad as previously related, I regret that even partially inaccurate information was passed along through me. I stand by the reports that this man was not supposed to be doing what he did when the accident occurred...question again why he was not named in the report, call for a review of his total FD driving/accident record, and repeat with firm conviction that there was an active attempt to bury this information in order to protect the man responsible, and spare the FD the embarrassment of another careless accident. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Your recent post has been flagged by another user as a possible violation of the Terms of Service, triggering this automatic notice.
