Earlier today a hero that means a lot to our family made his trip to heaven. His service didnt stop after Vietnam. He has served for years making sure POW / MIA heroes are never forgotten. He has worked tirelessly to make sure that their names are known. And, he (and his wife) have been endlessly on call for our own family... To teach us as a newer veteran and family the ropes of this life. He and I have even sat more times than I can count on my front steps while he listened to me ramble about worries or concerns... And then in turn offered advice and counsel and a kick in the six if I needed it. Ive never known him to balk at a challenge... To pause when we or anyone else needed help... To do anything other than push forward and refuse to stop until whatever needed to be fixed, had been. The prayers and thoughts of our household tonight are with Ike Westwoods family... And our gratitude for sharing him with us... And our thanks for the honor of being part of his life. What a man. And what a life to be celebrated.
